Summer Jobs for College Students

You’re in the middle of summer vacation and you have suddenly realized that you don’t have enough money to last you until the new semester starts in the fall. You could choose to run up a bunch of credit card debt or you could suck it up and get a job.

Here are some jobs that you can still get even though the summer is halfway complete:

  • Waiting tables or bartending. These jobs are always hiring and they have high turnover rates so it’s not going to be a big deal if you decide to quit in a couple of months when school starts again. Plus they pay cash immediately and you’re probably in need of that right now.
  • Travel-related jobs. It’s probably too late to get a job at a summer camp or as a hiking guide but travel is still a big business. If you’re in Florida, look at car rental Fort Lauderdale companies, Fort Lauderdale airport car rental jobs or even Orlando car rental businesses to see if they’re hiring for the overflow work they have during the summer.
  • Domestic jobs. Babysitting jobs, errand work, petsitting and other jobs assisting people in their homes can be done for immediate cash in the summer and may even be something you can transition to part-time for extra cash during the fall semester.

It certainly would’ve been better to get a summer job at the beginning of summer but that doesn’t mean that it’s too late to do it now.
